Arrowhead Composites and Thermoplastics - Elmore, AL
Established in 1969, the fiberglass plant in Elmore, Alabama became a part of Arrowhead in 1994. Serving customers in the Southeastern United States and the Midwest, the plant is located on 16 acres of ground located 10 miles north of Montgomery, Alabama on Highway 16 just eight miles east of I-65. The facility consists of 80,000 square feet under roof with one 30,000 square foot building dedicated to production of large parts like the one-piece UPS truck roofs that have been molded at the plant since 1969. The plant is committed to on-time delivery and maintains its own delivery vehicles and trailers as back-up to 3rd-party freight carriers.
Arrowhead’s Southeastern reinforced Plastic Molding Plant specializes in six primary fiberglass and composite molding processes: Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), RTM-Lite, hand lay-up, Closed Cavity Bag Molding (CCBM) and Compression Molding (SMC). Working with our customers and educating them about the pros and cons of each process helps them select the right process for their application. Typical part volumes range from 25 parts per year to 20,000 parts per year.
In conjunction with its fiberglass fabrication and fiberglass part manufacturing capabilities, the Alabama plant produces most of its own tooling. In addition, the plant has a great deal of experience in a number of secondary value-added processes such as bonding aluminum and steel to fiberglass, assembly, molded-in stiffeners and inserts, post mold baking, packaging, crating and sandwich panel construction. Molded-in color, finished gel coat, and grey sanding gel coat (for customer painting) are all finishes supplied by the plant.
